Frequently asked questions
Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions however, should you have any other queries please feel free to contact us.
How are you different from other morning Pre Schools?
We strive to create a safe, stimulating and fun environment and use our large indoor and outdoor space to provide a wide range of activities for the children. We very much believe in children learning through play and plan activities to suit the needs of every individual child. The committed team of staff have worked together at Northfields Pre School for many years and are confident providers of good quality early years education. We are a non-profit making group with charitable status run by a parent committee.
How will you help my child settle in?
Your child will be allocated a Key Person who will take special care of your child and work with you to ensure that you and your child are happy at Pre School. Every child is individual and we recognise that fact. Some children settle easily and others take more time and patience. As soon as Covid restrictions allow you will be welcome to stay for the first few weeks and take the gentle approach if you feel that is what is required for your child. If and when you choose to leave, your Key Person will reassure you, take photos of your child at play and call you on your mobile to let you know that your child has settled.
Can I leave a buggy/scooter at the centre?
Yes, we have a covered shelter in the rear garden.
Which food and drinks do you offer at snack time?
We offer our children wholemeal toast with butter and either milk or water, please send in a fruit snack for your child in a named container. Fresh water is available throughout the session and please let us know if your child has any allergies.
What security measures are in place?
CCTV operates full-time in the community centre and the Pre School doors and gates are always locked during sessions.
Does my child need to be toilet trained?
Not at all, we provide all nappies and wipes and will assist with toilet training when your child is ready. We also keep a supply of clean spare clothes on site in case of accidents. We would appreciate if these spare clothes are washed and returned to the Pre School as soon as possible.
What is your staff ratio?
We have 4 staff and 24 children each day.
How do you share feedback with parents?
Newsletters are produced each half term, and regular emails are sent to inform parents of events. There is also a noticeboard which contains the latest information.
