Our approach & aims
Starting Pre School is a big step for your child, as they move towards independence, being away from you, learning to play and interacting in a group. We aim to create a stimulating environment that offers a range of activities which will encourage children’s development through planned and spontaneous play based learning, indoors and outside in our large garden and allotment.
We plan for opportunities to develop social skills and for children to have a positive sense of themselves and others. We recognise each child as an individual and understand that every child’s needs are unique.
Activities are planned to cover all seven areas of development and are used as a guide, designed to allow children to approach them in different ways, according to their level of development, needs and interpretation.
We encourage children to explore and be free to follow their interests, we know when and how to further develop their learning. Children are given time to work things out for themselves, secure in the knowledge that we are there to support and challenge their critical thinking.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is a framework by which all Early Years Settings must be guided towards successful development of children under 5. Learning and development at Pre School will be focused on the three prime areas: Communication and language; Physical development and Personal, social and emotional development.
